Rolex Daytona 6262 Paul Newman Musketeer

The Rolex Daytona is widely recognized as one of the most iconic chronographs in history and, along with the Submariner, probably the brand's most legendary model. Introduced in late 1969 and stopped in 1971, the 6262 is the second Daytona reference to feature the steel tachymetric bezel. It is the Daytona reference with the shortest production ever. Several dials were available on this model, but the most sought-after are obviously the so-called "exotic" dials, more commonly known by the nickname "Paul Newman". Among other features, they feature a matte texture, special fonts in the subdials and a red exterior minute track. There are two main configurations, the first with black sub-dials on a white dial, also known as "panda". The second, with white sub-dials on a black dial, is known to collectors as the "reverse panda". This piece dates from around 1970 and has been very well preserved. The case and bracelet are in good condition, with the edges still sharp, something that is becoming difficult to find on a timepiece of this age. The most important part of this icon, the "Musketeer" dial, is in a remarkably well-preserved state, with clear, unaltered writing. The subdials show some signs of age with some little spots and marks shown on the pictures, which is often seen on these watches, and is also a sign that the dial is not restored. The tritium is entirely original and has not been relumed, some spots are diminished but all of them are still present. No need to elaborate for paragraphs. This watch is the grail of most collectors, and a piece that deserves the success it has been given.
