In 2024, Audemars Piguet released the Remaster02, an important novelty in the world of watchmaking. Not only did the watch revive a bold and unconventional style that is synonymous with the 1950s/60s, but it is also the perfect modernisation of a classic of watchmaking and of their history. The mid-20th century was a time of trial for Audemars Piguet, which seems to be repeating nowadays, as they have been exploring and developing seemingly more than other watch brands. The Remaster02 could not just be a simple reiteration of the 5159BA, and so Audemars Piguet made sure to use a gold alloy that is unique to their brand: the sand gold. It was also an aesthetic choice, as the angular and typical form of the watch is perfectly reflected thanks to the choice of case material. The dial sports the “Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50” colour, famously found on the early Royal Oak dials. The clean dial sports sand gold hour-markers and hands, showing Audemars Piguet’s will to emphasise the atypical case. The watch is powered by their new caliber 7129, an ultra-thin self-winding movement designed to maintain the watch’s slim profile while delivering high performance. This movement, measures only 2.8mm in thickness, and ensures that the watch is not only visually striking but also technically advanced.
